It's Dr. Grant Pagdin. If you've been following some of the information that we've been discussing with regard to bio-identical hormone therapy (BHRT), you may have heard of a couple of the hormones that we sometimes use here at Pagdin Health, which include HCG and HGH.

I've had some questions as to what is the difference between those two things? And would we ever use them both together simultaneously? HCG stands for human chorionic gonadotropin and this is something that helps to stimulate testicle production of testosterone. We will sometimes use this in combination with testosterone or instead of testosterone. It can also help to improve male fertility. One other application of HCG is in a medically supervised weight loss program.

The other hormone I mentioned, which is HGH stands for human growth hormone, and this is something different entirely. Human growth hormone comes from the pituitary gland, and it is helpful in terms of tissue repair and healing after exercise or after injury. So, growth hormone and HCG could both be used concurrently. We would check various levels of your hormones to see if you are a suitable candidate for either of these interventions, and they can safely be used concurrently if medically necessary.
