Hiya folks! In this video I will be turning my first piece of Laburnum into a tall vase / twig pot on the woodturning lathe.

This wood was very fresh when I got it so once I had roughed out the desired shape it was left for a few days to dry, as a result it warped and cracked little but not to worry, the cracks were filled with O3a adhesives CA glue and the warping wasn't that bad.

What I missed during filming was the application of a sanding sealer to the piece just before the CA crack fill, this was to prevent the glue soaking into the wood too much outside of the cracks.
Once sanded it was then polished with Yorkshire grit abrasive paste and parted off from the lathe.

A fairly straight-forward turn with a stunning looking wood.

All parts of laburnum is poisonous so remember to not eat big chunks of it while turning, the best way to avoid this is wearing your PPE.
