Have You Seen A Bird Today? with Kimball Garrett

 Published On Sep 13, 2023

Kimball Garrett is an icon of the L.A. birding world. He literally wrote the book on birds in Southern California, the aptly titled Birds of Southern California: Status and Distribution, which remains the standard reference for identifying the region's birds, as well as the 2006 guide Birds of the Los Angeles Region. Garrett joined the Natural History Museum staff in 1982, and over his decades-long career as Collections Manager of Ornithology at the Museum, cared for the more than 122,000 specimens in the collection, monitored nonnative bird species naturalized to the region, held leadership roles in numerous ornithological organizations, and of course, led flocks of people to the love of birds.
