shoutout to rachel bilson for asking "are you sure seth and marissa weren't supposed to be the love interests?" in episode 2 of the oc bitches podcast thus giving me the push I needed to finally vid these two!

I have always had a huge soft spot for these two and their little moments. it's clear that he cared about her a lot and they had such a fun back and forth, especially in early s1. we deserved to see WAY more of their friendship on screen, especially in s3. the showrunners started to set up a great foundation for them at the beginning of s2, but then they just never went anywhere with it and it's such a waste. and don't even get me started on the deleted scene from 1x19 -- I s2g josh and co saw the potential with them in that moment and were toying with the idea of getting them together but then chickened out & scrapped it. I get why they didn't want to go there but it still kills me!! they at least deserved to go on their pancake tour of north america damn it!!!

about the video: I put an au spin on a couple of clips but for the most part I tried to keep it canon. I think this song is perfect for them because while seth kept his distance from marissa, he really did have a lot of love and admiration for her. my headcanon is that he had a crush on her that he was always aware of (and maybe she was too) and he purposely kept her at arm's length in fear of risking their friendship or jeopardizing their relationships with ryan and summer. I also feel like they could have found their way to each other romantically in adulthood. just a headcanon, of course! but I wanted this edit to serve as a tribute to their actual friendship with just a hint towards something more so that shippers and non-shippers alike could enjoy, so hopefully you do enjoy! let me know what you think in the comments :)
