My first test run with my new Honda HSS724A wheel drive snowblower. Purchased this unit to supplement my smaller, but very trusty Honda HS622 track drive unit. I live in an urban environment that doesn't need a huge snowblower and our region typically doesn't get huge snow accumulations during the winter season. However, the 2023/2024 season has been particularly dry with never been seen drought conditions. Nonetheless, the little tiny bit of snow we had gave me a chance to fire this unit up and to see how the GX200 motor compares against my HS622's GX160. I did a main jet swap on my GX200 and replaced the factory #75 main jet with a #80 jet and the performance improvement is significant and quite noticeable when the motor is under load. The factory jet depending on the year the blower was made may come with EITHER a #75 or a #78 jet and in my opinion, are both TOO small and should be upgraded to either an #80 or a #82 depending on your elevation. Due to government-mandated emissions requirements, Honda had to install smaller main jets. As a result, the motors in the post-2015 snowblowers were crippled of power under load and would bog down and lose power. With the upgraded jet size, the motor runs smoother and is NOTICEABLY better under load with minimal drop in RPM. I haven't tried the even larger #82 jet as I am currently at 3400 ft above sea level and I do not want to run my motor rich as it will lead to oil dilution that can lead to lack of lubrication and engine damage.
