The Nissan Frontier is quite an old platform, but for the 2020 model year it has received a completely new engine and transmission. It is actually the next generation DI 3.8L V6 and 9 speed auto that will be found in the next generation truck. I spent a week with this Frontier to see what the new engine and transmission is like, and discovered how much modern car interiors have advanced compared to the Frontier's. Coolest fact about the Frontier is that a 2007 one from this generation did a million miles, all on the original engine and original transmission! That definitely speaks to the reliability and longevity of this truck.
