ABOUT THE PRODUCER & CHOREOGRAPHER :
Isabelle Beernaert (25-10-1973) is a Flemish choreographer, director and scenographer of modern dance theater productions (www.isabellebeernaert.com and Booking.isabellebeernaert.com). Every year she creates a full-length dance theater production with an authentic story that appeals and touches the audience. Besides her short-fragment choreographies since 1985 during her professional education and after, she has already created ten full-length productions since 2011, each with a tour of 40 to 60 performances spread across Belgium, the Netherlands and Portugal . Next theater season her eleventh full-length dance theater production will be realized with the title "NUDE - Nuda Veritas.''
By combining her strong classical and technical education at the Royal Balletschool of Antwerp (Belgium) founded by Jeanne Brabants and her experiences in the field of theater, fashion and media, she appeals to a broad target audience: not only art lovers, but also ordinary people who are looking for an evening of art, culture or an authentic story with emotion. She continues this bridging function in "NUDE - Nuda Veritas". She do not experiment excessively and aim for a balance between abstract and non-abstract: Isabelle believes that there is enough material close to humans. I walk the middle way between the structure of old ballet stories and the many short, modern choreographies.
Isabelle’s life is dedicated to dance and music, as well as being human, being a mama, being a woman, being a friend. She works extremely with the cultural and life heritage that she carries in what she feels and think and do. She has become a passionate dancing philosopher and coach, after a disciplined training at the Royal Ballet School of Antwerp and a specialization in contemporary ( Graham, Limon, Cunningham, Horton and floor technique) and ethnic dance ( such as Flamenco, Classic Spanis dance, Bulgarian dance, Indian dance, African dance...), studies in the visual arts and conservatory in music (solfeggi, piano and saxophone). She also enlarged her knowledge by being curious about the polarity between a classical dancer and a HipHop and Breakdancer and so she has been learning / practicing also this more Urban techniques. With full dedication she searches for the creative life force within people. Seeing the people around her grow, their awakening, their nakedness, their courage to fully present themselves with their pure primal energy… it continues to fascinate and nourish her.
She quotes : ‘All our existence revolves around creation, which energizes life energy. I create my productions to touch people at different levels of consciousness. Dance is a silent language that tells and moves so much at the same time. I experience choreography as a “magical world” where there are no laws or restrictions.’
Within a confusing world where everything revolves around competition and efficiency, she also wants to create contexts in which young and old can develop as a person and as a dancer. For example, she also offers young trained dancers with diverse cultural backgrounds from home and abroad a platform to grow from their training to a fully-fledged performing artist on stage, by giving them an internship and through her working method in which they commit a physical and mental transformation journey. Isabelle also organize workshops / master classes, clinics, development and research periods for amateur dancers as well as professional dancers of all age categories, as well as for non-dancers with an interest in story and movement, and their own life, personality, baggage, knowledge as core themes.
At a young age, Isabelle Beernaert, started creating dance pieces, a passion that she never let go and in which she reveals her entire soul. She brings dance with a story that everyone can confront at some point. Through her creations she tells the everyday life of the human being, the not obvious, the underlying emotions, the profound, the passion that makes us live.
Isabelle also developed herself in philosophy, psychology and other knowledge of life and people and her fields of interest goes also to literature and architecture.
