We here at TestDrive have had the pleasure to feature a lot of BMWs over the years, including the entire range of mid-size luxury Sport Activity Vehicles whether it be the X5 or X6. Now we're looking at the final boss of the X5 lineup via the X5 M Competition. This $147,000.00 SUV boasts a 4.4L twin-turbo V8 engine producing a whopping 617 horsepower, 553 lb-ft of torque. We discuss some of the mechanical aspects of the 2021 BMW X5 M Competition and how it compares to the other vehicles we've driven so far. Since it's winter, and we live in Québec, the rest of our video takes us on a real-world winter snow storm driving test to see how this SUV handles rough weather.

We report our fuel economy testing along with the specifications for the winter tires used, in this case Michelin Pilot Alpin 5 SUV winter tires. We then show what the 2021 BMW X5 M Competition is capable of in the snow, and how the M xDrive system performs. We discuss how confident we feel driving a vehicle like this in the winter, and some of the aspects buyers would be curious to know if they're in the market for this vehicle and plan on driving it year-round in a climate like ours that gets snow.
