Anyone who likes extremely rusty, old things will love this restoration. More precisely, it is more of a transformation from a machete to a knife. I had to do a lot of work on the lathe, grinding, drilling, tapping, electrolyzing, hardening and a lot more... Since the original handle of this antique machete was no longer there at all, I had to make a new one out of ebony with brass caps. The pitting caused a lot of damage to the machete, so the knife ended up looking old and new somehow! Stay tuned and have fun watching!

▶ What did I do?! ◀

Use a needle scaler to remove the crust of rust, that was really a lot of rust. This is then removed more deeply with electrolysis. Since the rust was already far too advanced, I could no longer save the machete in its original form and converted it into a knife. It gets its contour on the belt sander and the cutting edge is processed. During hardening, the knife is heated to 800 °C and quenched in preheated oil. The metal must then be tempered three times for one hour in an oven at 200°C. Since the old handle no longer exists, I remade it from ebony and brass caps; I did everything with the lathe and milling machine. Finally everything was assembled and the cutting edge was sharpened; Now nothing stood in the way of testing the knife.
