I think the combination of tinkering and cleaning and try trying again has made this come alive! I used WD-40 on most of the greased joints and sliders in the vending mechanism so that when the coin mechanism started operating reliably, the vending portion would do the same! It often raised the bed to bring a bottle down, but the release arms wouldn’t allow a bottle through, etc.
