Solo camping and camp cooking in sub zero temperatures can be challenging if you aren't prepared.
Frozen puddles start the day on this high elevation solo camping in the Vic High Country.
After 3 days in this pristine location with very frosty mornings and the relaxing sounds of the local bird life, i didn't want this solo camping trip to end.
I have been on a lot of solo camping trips over many years, and i really enjoy camping out in sub zero temperatures.
I have set up my solo camping base, right beside the upper reaches of the Buchan River at Native Dog Flat Camping Ground.
Native Dog Flat Camping Ground is located in the Vic High Country, about an hour out from the tiny remote country town of Omeo.
It is a beautiful spot to camp at any time of year, but during Winter this high elevation location is a magnificent spot to set up for your solo camping trip. Just maybe this location might become your best solo camping trip.
All of my meals are cooked on the camp fire. Bush style cooking at it's best.
It was very quiet and while i sat beside my camp fire, i had the amazing sounds of the local birds and frogs, with the tranquil sounds of running water echoing out from the Buchan River.
