This is a vid of the start of a week's celebrations, honouring the Armed Forces in the United Kingdom, past, present and future.

Held in the Memorial Park in Cleckheaton, West Yorkshire on Monday 25th July 2012 and hosted by The Royal British Legion, this video highlighted the marching of their flag to the Memorial, the blessing by our local priest, the Last Post, a speech by the B.L. Chairman and the raising of the flag.

I was lucky enough to catch this event, purely because I heard the playing of Holst's The Planets from a distance - unfortunately, this event was not highly publicised and the turn-out was disappointingly low. Either this was meant to be a purely British Legion event, or there was insufficient public awareness, I don't know.

What I do know is that the speech, made by the British Legion Chairman, was delivered from the heart and related to serving members of the Armed Forces and the respect they deserve. It was a privilege to hear and I share it with you here.
