The Congo Basin is known as the “lungs of the world.” It’s vital to people and nature – and it’s an ally in the fight against climate change.

The world’s 2nd largest rainforest, is home to:

~ 75 million people who depend on the water, food, materials, medicine and shelter it provides
~ 70% of the content’s forest cover and the most diverse convergence of plants and animals in Africa
~ a biome that sequesters more carbon than the tropical forests of the Amazon and Asia combined

The Bezos Earth Fund is committed to ensuring this delicate ecosystem is healthy and thriving. Together with partners, we’re working to achieve the region’s 30x30 commitments to protect 30% of the Congo Basin by 2030.
