The 1986 NBA Slam Dunk Contest featured 8 competitors; Spud Webb of the Atlanta Hawks, Terence Stansbury of the Indiana Pacers, Roy Hinson of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Gerald Wilkins of the New York Knicks, Terry Tyler of the Sacramento Kings, Jerome Kersey of the Portland Trailblazers, Paul Pressey of the Milwaukee Bucks, and Dominique Wilkins of the Atlanta Hawks. The 1986 Dunk Competition featured a final round of Dominique Wilkins and Spud Webb. Dominique who was the favorite entering the competition had 2 impressive dunks, but he could not compete with Spud Webb and the Dallas crowd which was in Spuds corner from the beginning, and Spud Webb became the 1986 Slam Dunk Championship.
