If you’re looking for an electric SUV and have about $40,000 to spend, then I have an idea for you. The Nissan Ariya. It’s right behind me, isn’t it?

Following up on their success with the Leaf, Nissan is sprinting into the future with this Copper compact crossover that seats 5 that’s said to have a range of 300 miles.


The Ariya comes powered by two motors and comes with either two- or four-wheel drive depending on the buyers’ needs.

That four-wheel system, called e-4ORCE, whoa, check out that futury spelling will certainly come in handy in inclement weather as well as no doubt help grip the road when you’re ready to show your kids some high-performance driving skills on the way to toddler pilates class.


Obviously, I can’t tell you how it drives. If I did, I’d get into big trouble right now.

But we’re excited to nonetheless.


The Ariya will get Nissan’s Pro-Pilot assist suite of safety features that includes electronic eyes everywhere for if you’re ever distracted.

It also gets Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, and Apple CarPlay so you can integrate your phones.

Okay, now let’s get to the fun stuff, how it looks.

Uh, wow. I really dig how this thing looks. It’s got futuristic cues for sure but still looks like it fits in the Nissan family thanks to the Rouge’s new update.

I’m always pushing for a larger greenhouse, so the beltline is a bit high for me, but overall I don’t feel bothered by the proportions. It’s bold, but elegant and doesn’t look too much like a weirdo future car.

Inside is spacious and airy. I wonder if that’s where it got its name?

Who knows, but its loungy feel looks comfortable and inviting while still being super modern.

Screens for days, people.

The Ariya plans to challenge the Tesla Model Y for EV crossover prowess when it becomes available from dealers in 2021.

Of course, there’s going to be a ton more to talk about with the Ariya, but hey, Nissan, you’ve definitely got me listening with this one.
