Indonesia’s military has denied using air strikes in the nation’s Papua region after video emerged showing a New Zealand pilot who had been kidnapped by Papuan rebels saying military actions had made him unsafe. An armed faction of the West Papua National Liberation Army (TPNPB) kidnapped the pilot on February 7, 2023, after he landed a small commercial plane in the remote, mountainous area of Nduga.
