To reduce risks to immediate physical safety and long term health, it is important that all UK foundries morally look after the most vital asset to their business, the people they employ. As knowledge around the hazards in the industry improves, the understanding of the risks to people must match in order to ensure the correct control measures are in place to keep everyone on site safe.
This webinar, delivered by Richard Heath, the Cast Metals Federation Health and Safety Officer and Mr. John Boyack of Red Wing Shoes, a provider of safety footwear and clothing to the global foundry industry as a national technical lecture to the ICME in January 2022, briefly explained origin of the SHIFT Initiative for improving health and safety in UK foundries, followed by the main presentation about the latest generation of safety clothing for aluminium molten metal protection, including the depth of work required to ensure an approval could be obtained.
