Construction on Herring Bridge began in January 2021 and has had a few delays along the way from time to time.

On 1st February 2024, the bridge opened to the public and connects from one side of Great Yarmouth to the other. The bridge itself is the main gateway to the nearby seafront and Barracks Estate along with gaining easier access to the nearby town of Gorleston On Sea.

The bridge will also make it much easier for heavy good vehicles that need to get to industrial locations quicker without going the long way round.

There is also some construction still taking place which will involve some green spaces later on in the year.
