The Villain in Loki Could Be Another Version Of Himself

Everyone on the internet is stoked for the new Disney+ Marvel series Loki. WandaVision and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier took a few episodes to really get going before they proved themselves as instant classics. In stark contrast, it looks like Loki is going to hit the ground running. The series will take the variant Loki from the original film, The Avengers who then escaped due to the time travel in Avengers: Endgame and turn him into something of a time traveling superhero kind of like Doctor Who. It’s a zany concept that looks like a lot of fun. That being said, seeing as the last two series were complex deconstructions of Captain America and the Scarlet Witch, how can Loki compete with that conceptually? Well, what if Loki literally had to compete with an evil version of himself to prove whether or not he was truly a villain? That sounds like it would do it.

Veteran actor Richard E. Grant has been killing it for decades as evil villains, hilarious side characters and charismatic leads. This well rounded star power being brought to Loki certainly points to the idea that he may very well be playing Old King Loki from the comics. We’ll explore who that character is, what other versions of Loki may be appearing and who the real Loki actually is as we explore the Loki vs. Old King Loki conflict at the center of the Loki Disney+ series.
