In this video we derive expressions for the time required for the state of a system to double in magnitude. We consider two cases, an unstable first order system and an unstable, underdamped second order system. This is referred to as the time to double and is related to the time constant of a dynamic system.

Topics and timestamps:
0:00 – Introduction
3:20 – First order system
13:47 – Second order system
36:02 – Verify second order solution in Mathematica
