Took my 17kW Stealth Bomber Enduro eBike for a Halloween ride in Brooklyn's Green-Wood cemetery. Got lost because of rift in space-time continuum and escorted out by security.

"Riding an ebike in a cemetery?! Not cool bro! *frowny face*"

Here's the thing..

Brooklyn's Green-Wood Cemetery opened to the public in 1838, originally as a place for burial, but quickly became so much more.

David Bates Douglass, Green-Wood’s landscape architect opposed early suggestions to call the cemetery a necropolis, as he thought the landscaped site should honor the dead but attract the living.

By the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, Green-Wood’s exquisite natural beauty and carefully curated landscapes attracted thousands of visitors per year apart from mourners or those visiting their loved ones.

People toured the beautiful grounds, had picnics, and, yes, even rode bicycles amongst the obelisks.

This might seem a bit macabre for today's sensibilities (and I can't help but to agree that it is a bit odd) but the notion that Green-Wood is to be experienced exclusively though mourning or solemn reverence is certainly not the in-line with the way it can or was meant to be enjoyed.

I have all due respect for the persons who call Green-Wood their permanent residence and mean no hubris by riding a 17kW electric motorcycle (with pedals) through the cemetery grounds.

Also, its, like, Halloween, or whatever 👻..
