2025 KIA Tasman Unveiled - First Look Ultimate Pickup

Kia is making a bold move here, aiming to take a slice of the pie currently dominated by established players like Ford Ranger and Toyota HiLux.

Engine: Familiar Base, Potential for More.

Now, there have been some interesting reports about the Tasman's engine.

While details remain unconfirmed, sources suggest it might launch with a familiar 2.2-liter turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine shared with Hyundai. This engine, found in the Kia Sorento, produces a reported 148 kilowatt.

However, considering Kia has identified the 500 newton-meters bi-turbo Ford Ranger as a benchmark, it's likely Kia will tweak the Tasman's engine for more competitive power and torque figures.

After all, the segment is packed with rivals boasting impressive outputs: 150 kilowatt/ 500 newton-meters HiLux, 154 kilowatt/ 500 newton-meters Ranger, 140 kilowatt/ 450 newton-meters Isuzu D-Max and Mazda BT-50.

The Korean Car Blog also suggests a V6 option, diesel or petrol, might be introduced later alongside hybrid technology. An electric Tasman is already confirmed, expected to follow the diesel variant.
