The University of Chicago’s 536th Convocation ceremony featured remarks from President Paul Alivisatos and Provost Ka Yee C. Lee, as well as an address from Prof. Wendy Freedman, this year’s faculty speaker.

The celebration also included the awarding of four honorary degrees to philosopher Cora Diamond, organic biochemist Katherine H. Freeman, historian Mercedes García-Arenal and astrophysicist Nergis Mavalvala. The University also recognized faculty members for excellence in teaching and mentoring.
