The Mercedes EQC is the first electric SUV from this historic brand. With an 80kWh battery and 402hp, this new Mercedes electric SUV can make a run to 100km/h in 5.1 seconds. The EQC compact luxury SUV is rated at over 450km of range on the European cycle but I was getting roughly 400km of range on the day I drove it. The battery can charge in 11hours on a 240V charge or 40 minutes on a level 3 fast charger. The EQC is based on the same wheelbase as the GLC compact gasoline utility but over 80 percent of the vehicle has been modified to make room for the battery. The interior and cargo area is similar to that popular SUV with a slightly different dashboard using the latest MBUX system and a flat-panel design similar to other Mercedes products. The ride is very sure footed, the steering is excellent and the overall feel is so similar to other Mercedes-Benz products, this will be an easy transition for many new buyers. The price has not been confirmed for the North American market but look to the Audi E Tron and Jaguar I-Pace as a guide for pricing. The Jaguar is roughly $90,000 CDN and the E Tron $100,000 CDN. The all-new Mercedes EQC arrives at the beginning of 2020 in the North American market.
