Feeling anxious this month? You’re not alone. First, find something and do, maybe organize, anything to comfort yourself through an uneasy feeling. I give a shit about you, that's why I made this video, take care of yourself. Does pollen affect mental health and cause anxiety? Allergies often make us feel crummy. They affect our sleep, energy levels, sense of smell, mental sharpness, and productivity — which, in turn, can affect our mental well-being, Dr. Gudis said. “Anytime you don't feel well, that's a psychological stressor,” he added.

Why is everyone anxious? If you believe, as I do, that anxiety is a symptom, not an identity, there are lots of potential reasons, many of which are work-stress related. Constantly checking email for news of a fire drill at work will put anyone in a state of anxiety. But today I want to focus on a lesser known cause of anxiety, which is seasonal allergies. When you think of allergy, you probably think of itchy, watery eyes and sneezing, maybe a cough. You don’t think of mental health. However, living in an environment with multiple allergy triggers can contribute to anxiety. For those of you who regularly read the blog, you know we’ve written a lot about histamine. You can read Kristin Kirkpatrick’s histamine intolerance post here, but the bottom line is that pollen allergy, or any other seasonal allergy, can cause mental unrest when paired with other factors that cause histamine to build up to excessive levels in the body.

One research study from the International Archives of Allergy and Immunology showed that seasonal allergies are more likely to trigger generalized anxiety disorder than perennial allergies to substances like food, animal hair, and dust mites (Harter et al.).

Also Allergic inflammation can affect neural activity on various levels, including the primary afferent sensory nerve, integrative centers of the central nervous system, autonomic ganglia, and autonomic neuroeffector junction.

About CBD and Anxiety
“Our findings suggest that THC did not increase anxiety long-term and that CBD-dominant forms of cannabis were associated with acute tension reduction that may translate to longer-term reductions in anxiety symptoms,” said Gregory Giordano, a professional research assistant at the CU Center for Health and Neuroscience..."
