ASISI SUHARIYANTO'S NOTES

Kedulan Temple, in the Special Region of Jogja, can be said to be the twin brother of Sambisari Temple, which is not far from it. These two temples have a structure that differentiates them from general temples in Central Java (Medang Kingdom era). This temple was damaged by the eruption of Mount Merapi, but was successfully restored by BPCB DIY. And now it can be visited by all levels of society.

Another unique thing about Kedulan Temple is that it has quite a bit of history, although why and by whom it was built is still unclear. From at least two inscriptions found at the excavation site, namely the Pananggaran Inscription and the Sumundul Inscription, we can suspect that this temple underwent repairs during the time of Maharaja Balitung. This video will take you on a historical search for Kedulan Temple, including assembling various allegations regarding its existence, based on analysis, research in the field, and expert estimates.
