In celebration of Pi day, I decided to put 3 iPhones to the test to see which one could calculate Pi to 100,000 digits the fastest. We're using an iPhone 12 Pro, an iPhone X, and an iPhone 5C — remember those?

How does the test work?

I created a very simple webpage that runs javascript code in the background to calculate Pi to 100,000 digits after you hit a button. Javascript is a great way to test the efficiency of the phone's browser and processor, because the code runs on the phone itself, not on the website's server. This is a real-world test of how efficiently each phone's processor and web browser can process large amounts of data.

You can run the test yourself on any device by going to upphone.com/pi, and all of the source code is readily available for you to inspect.
