Vikings were a tribe of seafaring warriors that came from Scandinavia while the Anglo-Saxons were a cultural group who inhabited England in the Early Middle Ages. Have you ever thought about what the Vikings and Anglo-Saxons did during their battles? We're here to tell you that not only were they fierce warriors, but also keen strategists! Today we'll be taking a look at the battle strategies each side used to get their military wins.

The Anglo-Saxons and the Vikings were two different tribes that pursued widely diverse conquests. The methods in which these two warring groups carried out their ambitions differed greatly. The period of the eleventh century saw the Vikings set England on fire and reduce it to ashes as a result of their barbaric behavior. Despite surviving battle, however, the Anglo-Saxons were unable to peacefully cohabitate with their neighbors. It is said that worshiping Pagan Gods played an influential role in driving Norse people's violent behavior throughout these conquests.

Although Vikings may have been known as 'berserker' warriors, this was actually just a tactic they used. It's said that they engaged in frenzied combat inside their own group, which was known as the 'berserkgang'.

Whereas the Anglo-Saxon troops had regularly engaged in conflict prior to King Alfred's rule, their military strategy shifted significantly during his reign, becoming considerably more defensive. Taking control of fortified areas served as the foundation for all their conflicts.

Anglo-Saxon culture was immensely sacked during the Viking age. The Normans had proven to be a worthy adversary for the Anglo-Saxons during their conquest in England. Eventually, Anglo–Saxon culture dwindled due to Norman influence. It is likely that the Normans treated the conquered in such a manner fearing a possible rebellion from them rather than sheer ruthlessness towards them since it was necessary for the security of their hold over England.
