Robert Nesta Marley (1945-1981) was a Jamaican singer and songwriter, the best-known reggae musician of all time, famous for popularizing the genre internationally. He has sold more than 75 million records and, in 1978, three years before his death, he was awarded the "Third World Peace Medal" by the UN.
