During the summer of 2020 we rented a cottage in the Kawartha Lakes area to ride ATVs and do other outdoor activities. We came across this kayaking route, down the Mississauga River, which was recommended to us as an easy paddle. Our journey turned into a very long and tedious trip, as the low water forced us to carry our kayaks long distances and many of the portaging locations were either very poorly signed and difficult to follow, or simply nonexistant. We often ended up kayaking through small rapids since we could not find the portage locations. This was quite the adventure, and something we will remember about our trip!
