After walking for five days, Urgan finally arrives at the monastery.
There are about a hundred monks in the Thikse Monastery, more than half of whom are young novices between 8 and 20 years old. They are all like Urgan, having left their villages to come here and learn the precepts of Buddha.
From this moment on, Urgan is in the hands of his spiritual master. A ceremony is held celebrating Urgan’s entrance into the monastery. And like novices, his apprenticeship begins by reading the noble treatise on wisdom.
