Dubai International Airport has been lashed with heavy rainfall and flooding overnight, causing major delays and disruptions for flights.

The airport advised on X that it would temporarily divert arrivals and continue to operate departures, but many travellers have failed to reach their departing flights due to road blockages and flooding.

The flooding has been widespread in Dubai, with social media posts showing commuters at the Dubai Metro Station wading in ankle-deep floodwaters, and shop ceilings at Dubai Mall collapsing.
