The Science of Nutrigenetics is a growing and complicated field. Educating clients on the subject can feel daunting and intimidating. Join Laura Kopec as she presents her easy to understand educational strategies for discussing Nutrigenetics using her twelve years of working with clients on the subject. Educational strategies are necessary to help practitioners and clients understand the need for a bridge in the conversation between the science and taking action.


Hawthorn University Holistic Health and Nutrition Webinar Series welcomes Laura Kopec, NDT, MHNE, MA, CNC for Learn, Speak and Educate Nutrigenomics: How to take the science into a conversation with clients.


Laura will cover different ways to learn about Nutrigenetics and how to prepare for reading a report. She includes her experiential perspective on a few of the major genes often discussed in a health and wellness appointment such as MTHFR and COMT. Laura will also discuss how Nutrigenetics can often be misunderstood with genetic examples such as GAD, along with the importance and impact of epigenetics. Why Nutrigenetics is important for the immune system, including Covid-19 will also be addressed.

Laura received a Master of Science in Health and Nutrition Education from Hawthorn University, a Master of Arts from the University of Arizona, a Doctoral Certificate in Traditional Naturopathy and a Certificate in Nutritional Counseling from Trinity School of Natural Health. She is recognized by the American Alternative Medical Association as a Board Certified Alternative Medical Practitioner and by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners as a board-certified Holistic Health Practitioner. Professional memberships include the National Association of Nutritional Professionals, the American Alternative Medical Association, the American Association of Nutritional Consultants, the American Holistic Health Association, the Coalition for Natural Health, the American Association of Drugless Practitioners and the Weston Price Foundation. Laura has been a conference presenter for the National Association of Nutritional Professionals and is a member of the National Speakers Association.
