Hello everyone!
My name is Nick and I welcome you to my YouTube channel - HomeMade in Lviv.
First of all, I would like to say thank you to all of you. HomeMade in Lviv has now exceeded the mark of 1 million followers, and I recently received YouTube gold play button.
Honestly speaking, to me, this isn't just some analytics, I understand that behind this figure are real people from around the world, people who are interested in my work, people who are constantly watching my videos and who encourage me to do better. Thanks to you - YouTube has become an important part of my life and I have a responsibility towards my viewers.
All I have demonstrated to date is really my hobby. I am a financier by education, with 15 years of experience in the field of banking analytics and retail banking.
I am often asked what is Lviv. Lviv is the largest city in western Ukraine. A city with a rich history and cultural heritage. The city where I live and work.
Ever since I can remember, I have always loved working with my hands and I really enjoyed building my own home.
At 18, I took a break from my studies at the Financial Academy and went to London. In UK I studied English and worked at a British construction company. It was here where I first encountered professional tools. Construction companies provided us with power tools of different brands, but only Makita was tested over time. This is why I I prefer the power tools from this brand. Afterwards I returned back to Ukraine and completed my studies.
Today I live in a big house that I built myself. Half of the house is occupied by my family and my parents live in the other half. I am married and have three children.
The eldest daughter Julia is a teenager and she is not interested in filming. The younger two: Anna and David, you often see in my videos as the quality control officers :)
YouTube takes up a lot of my time, and I’m very grateful to my wife for her support, dedication into raising our children and up keeping of our home.
I work alone, every time I try to improve my knowledges and skills and I spend more and more time and effort on inventing, performing, filming and video editing. My every project is a challenge for me and a one-time job, I always worry about the outcome!
So, how it all started? I opened my channel exactly 5 years ago and now it has exactly 104 of my videoworks. But 5 years ago I opened this channel only to leave a memory for my children about all the changes that are happening in my home, I hoped one day when they grow up they could see how it was before. I did not intend to become a YouTube blogger. But my videos found the support from other viewers, the number of subscribers started to grow, you wrote comments with words of support and stimulated the development of the channel.
My newly built house was badly furnished that's why I started making a furniture by myself. Each time gaining more experience and making my products more complecated every time. I did not comment the work processes as I do not consider myself a professional carpenter to teach others I just worked with pleasure and tried to show the whole process of creation and methods that work on the camera. I believe that actions speak louder than words.
I made my workshop inside of my garage, constantly improving it for my convenience. Those who saw my early videos noticed the changes. I always drive cars out of the garage before work just to keep them away from the saw dust and create more space for work. I have two dogs, sometimes you could see tham in my video! The friendly Labrador is called Marcus, and the foxy Boxer is called Barney. They always like to spin around.
Recently, after 15 years of work experience, I resigned from the bank because it became very difficult for me to combine work in a bank and work for YouTube, especially during quarantine restrictions.
Between working in a bank and YouTube, I chose the last one!
I haven't sold any of my works for all this time. I often give my works as a gift to the people who are important to me! The interest for me is in creating something new, maybe that's how i realize myself! ;)
Usualy when I start making anything I only have an idea and the appearance is formed in the process of creation. All dementions are made by eye! And are limited by the amount and length of available material ;)
Remember only the limitation is your imagination! Stay safe! Bye-bye!
