The Sonic movie made big waves as the first chart-topping live-action adaptation of its kind! Giving new life to its beloved nineties video game characters (and Jim Carrey's career), Sonic The Hedgehog fared extremely well at the box office despite not getting the best reviews. Critics were quick to point fingers at its lacklustre storyline, but for die-hard fans of the video game, the movie was an apt homage. While Sonic 1 focused heavily on establishing the main characters and their rivalry, the sequel promises a bigger entourage of characters. A post-credits scene has pretty much confirmed that Tails will make his on-screen debut, and another key character that should ideally be introduced in the sequel is Knuckles. The gullible yet powerful echidna has been a recurring staple since his introduction in Sonic 3. It will be glorious to see him go up against Sonic on the silver screen. Knuckle's video game arc and foe-turned friend dynamic with Sonic is perfect for the expansion of the franchise and a key addition for maintaining its video game continuity. His animosity with Sonic could also be used as an effective ploy to bring Tails into the sequel in a way that will set the ball rolling for their friendship. After all, Sonic has a devastating lack of friends- the very friends who will eventually team up with him to defeat Dr. Robotnik as the source material for the franchise predicts. This video quickly builds up all these arguments and explains why Knuckles is expected to be in Sonic 2.
