I acquired this R80 a couple years ago. It had been parked in a garage since 1997. It had traveled 55,000 miles in those first 11 years of it's life by the original owner. It was then purchased by it's second owner and very soon afterwards, parked in his garage, where it sat for the next 25 years. I was a mechanic/tech at a dealership during the period when this bike was new, so I quickly became reacquainted with this BMW. These old airheads are great motorcycles. I have very fond memories from all those years ago, from both riding and working on them. The RT was one of the best touring bikes in the the world, and still is. Fairly light, excellent handling, excellent weather protection and comfortable to ride for long distances.
