A customer complaint of multiple catalytic converter replacements has brought a 2016 Chevrolet Traverse into the shop. Follow along as Master Trainer Drew Jablonowski of Garage Gurus takes you through the steps of finding the root cause of the Bank 1 catalytic converter efficiency code and the rear fuel trim code. When smoking the exhaust, and using soap and water fail to reveal an exhaust leak, Drew uses a thermal imager. Drew scans the exhaust system with the thermal imager and finds two hot spots where it had rusted through. As a result, he determines that issue were the leaks at the Y-pipe rather than the catalytic converter and makes the appropriate repair.
