With the accessory drive system installed on our Edelbrock small block, the engine mounted to the cradle, and the American Powertrain supplied TKX 5-Speed manual transmission mated to the engine, it was time to raise the new drivetrain into the belly of our 1987 IROC-Z Camaro. We also tackled our Summit Racing supplied suspension with components from BMR, QA1 and Koni, and then mocked up our new 3-inch exhaust system.

But if you think we’re finished, think again! Next up was figuring out the wiring, vacuum lines, hooking up the clutch pedal assembly to the transmission, etc. And then, there’s the new cooling system. U.S. Radiator came to our aid by providing us with a beautiful brass copper unit that’s far more efficient than the stocker, and to top it off, Phillip Cochran, the head honcho at U.S. Radiator paid us a visit, as did Trent Goodwin from Edelbrock, to make sure that everything fit perfectly!
