This 2006 bmw Z4's Starter keeps burning out. Causing a no start situation.
Specific to the first generation BMW Z4. I'll show you the usual cause and and why. The part needed requires no coding or programming. This is a rare issue that can cause the following intermittent symptoms:
-No crank / no start
-Starters burning up frequently
-Starter staying engauged
-Starter making strange noises at start up.
--- Diagnosis tips ---
If you're diagnosing this issue yourself then first check if the white wire on the starter is getting power. If it is, it may be receiving voltage but no amperage due to burnt relay contacts. Or the starter is just bad.

If no voltage then check all fuses first. If okay then it's likely a faulty relay box, as shown in the video.

If the starter is engaging or staying engaged then its a faulty relay box. ( in some cases its a faulty ignition switch). Note; a faulty ignition switch will usually have other associated symptoms such as, airbag light flickering or staying on dimly, horn honks when activating other components such as
hazard switch, wipers coming on intermittently, or other strange symptoms.

When replacing the starter, recommend the relay box as well if it has never been replaced.

I hope this has helped someone out there if not been a little entertaining.
Thank you for watching.
