This area & line scan camera explainer animation shows the difference between an area scan camera images and line scan camera images. Area scan cameras take a discrete amount of images based on the frame rate. In this example we take six (6) images for the area scan camera. The line scan camera takes a single line as an image and does this continuously during the rotation (or translation) of the product. The amount of lines is based on the "integration time" of the camera.

In the animation we use a syringe as an example and we included an round area on the body of the syringe for reference purposes. In the line scan image you see the round area on the foreground twice and on the background once. The area scan images are taken at 60° angles (as we take 6 images over a 360° rotation).
