The Marx Brothers weren’t just a successful comedic family that created hilarious motion pictures, but they were also a successful Vaudeville and Broadway act. They are still widely considered by critics and scholars to be one of the greatest and most influential comedians of the 20th century. But throughout their storied career, the Marx Brothers faced tough childhoods during which they experienced loss and tough upbringings, as well as career ups and downs and disputes. Can’t have the comedy without a fair amount of tragedy.
