"Safari Njema" means have a good journey in Swahili. In 1999 I set off from Cape Town to Tanzania using only trains with my friend Andrew Schmidt. Near the end of the journey, in a small town south of Dar es Salaam my bags with all the recorded tapes was stolen out of a cheap hotel. This documentary is therefore take two (my first documentary lies somewhere in an East African field), and tracks our journey from Dar es Salaam to Cape Town using various public transport. This is my first project (without training), made with a Panasonic MiniDV palmcorder. Screened (and unfortunately updated with a third person voice over -- I don't have the original anymore) on Southern Africa Direct channel. www.neilshaw.tv
