The Northrop P-61 Black Widow is a twin-engine United States Army Air Forces fighter aircraft of World War II. It was the first operational U.S. warplane designed as a night fighter, and the first aircraft designed to use radar.

The P-61 was similar in profile to the German Focke-Wulf Fw 189 reconnaissance aircraft and to the American Lockheed P-38. The crew consisted of pilot, gunner, and radar operator. The P-61 was well-armed for its night-fighter role, with four 20-millimeter Hispano M2 cannons mounted in the lower fuselage, and four 50 caliber M2 Browning machine guns in the dorsal gun turret.
