After getting Lee County's test recorded, @madisoncountysirens4295 and I got lunch before eventually making our way back over to Montgomery County for their siren test. I had originally wanted to go over to the Whelen 4004 that stands next to a decommissioned Thunderbolt on the west side of Montgomery, but @madisoncountysirens4295 really, really, really wanted to go film this particular Whelen 4004, and I eventually agreed. The siren fired on up a few minutes after the scheduled test time, but did go for the full three minutes of alert, plus the full three minutes of attack roughly 30 seconds after the alert cycle. This was our fourth and final test of the day, which I think is the most siren tests I've personally recorded in one day.
This siren was originally installed back in 1993, along with a couple of other Whelen 4004s, to help supplement Montgomery County's old civil defense-era siren system. However, in the late-90s, Montgomery County upgraded their system, replacing all of their sirens with the current Whelen 4004s, though retained these older units from the 90s, presumably due to being Whelens of the same model and still working. Despite the several chips in the body of the head, in addition to the massive gash and hole on the side of it, this siren still seems to be in pretty decent shape. Amazingly, it's even still running its original analogue ESC-864 controller, which is rather great to see. I believe this is my first time recording an analogue Whelen siren, in fact, so it's nice having finally recorded one. All in all, despite a few minor hiccups, this was a very successful day of siren recording.

Montgomery County, AL, tests on the first Wednesday of every month at 3:30PM, weather permitting.
