The Tiger II 1965 Chevelle is one of the pioneers of the Funny Car days and Dave Giles found and restored this iconic altered wheelbase drag car. Everyone's definition of early funny cars is different, but during 1965 there was a combination of altered wheelbase cars, supercharged nitro-burning cars and injected gas cars touring the country. Eventually, these types of cars merged into what we now know as funny car, but back then it was the Wild West and everyone was trying new ideas. The idea for this crazy Chevelle was to move the axles around, set the engine back and try to get every ounce of weight over the rear tires for optimal traction.

This car went through dozens of stages in its life span, and eventually received the very first T-Bar center steer funny car chassis. The car then was sold to JC Sizemore in Alabama, where it ran as a companion to his famous '55 Chevy named Golden Rod. Later it was sold to Jerry Rhodes, who ran it as Funny Money. From there, the car went missing, and Dave found it in backwoods Alabama. Follow along to get the whole story on this car, including lots of great photos from its heyday. Dave Giles restored this car to perfection!
