This video describes the viewpoint that bad modern day poetry occurs because it is rooted in an extreme relativist mindset, which causes the basic criterion conventions of poetry to be absent from contemporary verse.

This video is not intended to be a fleshed out academic claim on the whole of Modernity...it is only meant to shed light on a spiritual perspective for why there is a hollowness in modern day poetry.

Certainly, there are contemporary poets that do make good art from a purely technical perspective. However, poetry is not just technique—it is a vehicle of meaning. In my view, purely materialist topics, because of their nature, are unable to contain the same spiritual depths found in the past literary canon because they are missing awareness regarding human nature, the nature of the soul, and/or the nature of God.
