From the contours of the Fraser Canyon to the open waters of the Pacific, British Columbia's lower mainland is an amazing coastal journey. Starting off at Hell’s Gate, a dangerous stretch of Fraser Rapids, over 760 million liters of water a minute is forced through a narrow opening in the jagged banks of the river. Today, the river rushes through this 80 km stretch of rugged, yet beautiful terrain. For centuries the canyon walls were an obstacle for settlers in connecting Canada coast to coast.
