This video applies to GMC / Chevrolet (Chevy) Sierra / Silverado models for years 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019. This video also includes factory camera removal wiring, installation, and testing.

Camera installation:
1. Remove the trim panel from the back of the tailgate by using a Torx socket and removing the 8 screws holding it on to allow access to the camera.
2. Remove the two Torx screws that are holding the factory camera into the handle.
3. Unplug the small 2 pin connector for the power locking tailgate from the handle
4. Install the new camera module into your tailgate handle using the two Torx screws that held the original camera in.
5. Plug the small 2 pin connector for the power locking tailgate into the handle
6. Follow the old camera harness through the tailgate and out the bottom. Route the new camera harness through the bottom of your tailgate and bed.
7. Unplug the factory camera from the main harness. it's an 8 pin connector located under the truck, behind the bumper. You may have to drop the spare tire to get to it.
8. Plug the new camera pigtail into the factory harness.
9. Secure the cable inside the tailgate using zip ties, ensuring that it is clear of moving parts.
10. Once the camera has been tested replace the tailgate access cover.

Parking Guidelines note:
Note that the camera has the parking guidelines enabled by default. To remove the camera guidelines, make sure the power to the vehicle is off. Locate the looped white wire on the camera harness. There will be a black piece of tape as a marker. The wires may be tucked into the shrink tubing a little. Snip the looped white wire that is protruding from the shrink tube on the camera wire. once you cut the white looped wire, isolate each wire with electrical tape or shrink tubing so they're not touching. You will want to remove the guidelines if you will be using the dynamic guidelines that have been built into the display from the factory. The blue wire is not used in this application and should be left as is.
