Madhu Chandan, who once operated his own software company in the US, occasionally visited his hometown Mandya. His visits revealed disturbing trends of farmer suicides and reduced life expectancy. Farmers were running into losses and were not getting paid as much as they deserve. Additionally, it made people prone to lifestyle-related diseases which were unheard of in rural communities. Soon, Chandan convinced his family to move back to Mandya from the US with the dream of providing the farmers what they deserved. 
Since 2014, the Organic Mandya Society provides farmers with training and guidance on growing chemical-free crops. The farmers can directly sell their produce to the organic Mandya stores in the district itself- without having to travel to cities. 
Farmers feel very supported and know that there is value for their crops. They are much more motivated to do farming and are proud of what they do. 
Now, the Organic Mandya Co-op Society has over 12000 farmers and over 4500 women members turned micro-entrepreneurs across 200 villages. Watch the video to know more about the journey of what is the future of organic farming!
