I'll be the first to admit that I was never a fan of the Dodge Charger, I hated every time one would drive by or if one was parked near my house. It was that level of hate.

But I was noticing a lot of hype around a "HELLCAT." At that time it would be the fastest mass produced sedan, it would go 0-60 in 3.6 seconds and it would have a top speed of 200 or so. That still didn't do it for me, I still hated Dodge Charger.

On October 13, 2017 a Hellcat made headlines: Dodge Hellcat Outruns Chopper in Houston Police Chase!

By this time I thought it’s time to look into it. After many rap songs mentioning the car, reading many blogs and watching some videos on it (more like 22 videos) came my chance to drive one. Let's just say I'm a little more receptive.

Briefly I’ll cover what catches my attention:

Braking power - this Charger comes to a complete stop from 70mph in 153 feet. That’s because it comes equipped with 6 piston, 15.4” Brembo calipers in front and 4 piston, 13.8” Brembo calipers in back. Both bite onto a slotted 2-piece rotor which is used to reduce unsprung and overall vehicle weight. They also increase ventilation capacity of the brake disc.

Ride quality - it offers 3-mode Bilstein adaptive suspension: track; sport; and eco. It’s controlled through the 8.4” touchscreen interface. Believe me when I say these are not gimmicks. When you opt for track or sport, you get a stiff suspension that picks up the roads imperfections.

The Charger HELLCAT is truly a special car. I respect Dodge for not giving up the first time it failed, or the second. The HELLCAT supercharged it’s brand, literally. Sales seem to be strong in the US market with no signs of stopping anytime soon! I can’t believe how I’m considering being the owner of a Charger HELLCAT.
